Code of Conduct
Last updated 4 sections
Registering means agreeing to this. It applies to the venue, the online channels and every session in the run-up.
The short version
Be someone other people want to build next to. Harassment, discrimination and hostility get you removed from the venue with no refund of goodwill.
Expected behaviour
Treat everyone in the room as a peer, whatever their experience level. A third of the room is at their first hackathon.
Respect the venue, the equipment and the staff. Clean up after your team.
Ask before photographing someone. Not everyone has signed the media release for the same reasons you have.
Unacceptable behaviour
Harassment or discrimination based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, age, religion or anything else.
Sexual imagery or advances, deliberate intimidation, stalking, sustained disruption of talks or sessions.
Plagiarising another team's work, or submitting code you did not write during the event window.
Reporting
Find any organizer wearing a staff badge, or email organizers@buildnights.example. Reports are handled by two organizers, and we will not disclose your identity to the person reported without your consent.
Consequences range from a warning to removal from the venue and disqualification. The organizers' decision is final.
